Nearly 1,000 guests came together to support Chastain Horse Park in Buckhead for the nonprofit’s first Fall Family Spectacular on Oct. 20. The free-to-attend event raised $40K though sponsorships, individual donations and paid activities, including pony rides, face painting and food and merchandise sales. Guests also enjoyed a horse show, a horseback archery and Atlanta Mounted Police demonstration, parade with horses in costume, an equine vaulting performance and barn tours. Chastain Horse Park, the oldest and largest urban park of its kind in Atlanta, is home to 60 horses. It offers a nationally recognized therapeutic riding program that includes Hippotherapy, Therapeutic Riding, Equine-Assisted Learning and other initiatives. “We work with children, teens and adults with a broad range of disabilities, including Down syndrome, autism, developmental and speech delays, cerebral palsy and more,” explains Executive Director Trish Gross. “The ability to serve riders with disabilities and those without is challenging yet humbling.”
